Shipping & Pickup Policy

Baby Bird Blooms ships within Canada only. Currently, international shipping is not available. All orders are fulfilled from Calgary, Alberta via tracked Canada Post shipping or in-person pickup.

Shipping Methods & Rates

We offer the following tracked shipping options:

  • Tracked Shipping (Flat Rate) — $25 CAD
  • Xpresspost — $45 CAD

All parcels include tracking. Rates include shipping and handling fees.

Please note:

  • We are unable to combine multiple orders or refund duplicate shipping charges once orders have been placed.
  • Due to shipping weight limits, larger orders may need to be placed separately.

Shipping & Pickup Timeline

Dahlia tubers are shipped seasonally in spring (mid-April through late May) once weather conditions are suitable for safe transport. We are unable to accommodate early shipping requests. We do not hold orders for delayed shipment or future pickup beyond the scheduled fulfillment window.

Shipping and delivery timelines vary by province and postal code. Shipping timing is determined by, but not limited to:

  • Outdoor temperatures
  • Regional weather conditions
  • Tubers being fully cured and ready

To reduce the likelihood of parcels being held over a weekend, most orders are dispatched early in the week (typically Monday or Tuesday). Shipping days may vary depending on weather conditions and order volume.

Customers will receive a tracking number via email once their order has shipped. If you have not received tracking within the posted shipping window, please check your spam or junk folder before contacting us through the website.

Weather & Delivery Delays

Tubers are resilient and carefully packed; however, we cannot guarantee performance once parcels are in transit. Once parcels are accepted by Canada Post, Baby Bird Blooms is not responsible for delays, loss, or theft caused by, but not limited to:

  • Weather
  • Carrier backlogs
  • Labour disruptions
  • Remote delivery timelines

We may adjust shipping days as needed to avoid extreme weather conditions or extended carrier delays.

Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking and bringing parcels indoors promptly upon delivery.

Address Accuracy

Customers are responsible for entering a complete and accurate shipping address and email address at checkout. Address changes cannot be made once an order has shipped. Baby Bird Blooms is not responsible for:

  • Packages delivered to incorrectly entered addresses
  • Returned parcels due to address errors
  • Additional shipping costs required for reshipment

PO Boxes & Remote Locations

We ship to PO boxes and rural addresses within Canada. However, we reserve the right to delay, cancel, or refund orders if shipping timelines or weather conditions may compromise tuber viability.

Right to Cancel

Baby Bird Blooms reserves the right to cancel and refund any order if shipping or pickup conditions are deemed unsafe, impractical, or beyond our reasonable control. If an order is cancelled by Baby Bird Blooms, the customer will be notified and refunded in full.

Local Pickup

Free local pickup is available in Calgary, Alberta on designated dates and times. Specific pickup dates and time windows will be announced in advance on our website. After purchase, customers will receive an email to confirm their preferred pickup date and approximate arrival time. Tubers will not be released prior to the confirmed pickup window. Pickup is by in-person handoff only.

Orders must be collected during the confirmed pickup window. We are unable to accommodate alternate pickup dates or times.

Customers are responsible for collecting their order during the confirmed pickup window. Responsibility for tubers transfers to the customer at the time of pickup.

Customers must text their name and order number at least one hour prior to arrival so their order can be prepared for handoff.

Pickup Notifications

Pickup dates and time windows are posted in advance. After purchase, customers will receive an email to confirm their pickup date and approximate arrival time.

A general reminder email will be sent prior to the pickup weekend; however, individual pickup reminders are not guaranteed. Customers are responsible for collecting their order during their confirmed pickup window and for texting their name and order number at least one hour prior to arrival.

Missed Pickup

Orders not collected during the confirmed pickup window will not be automatically held.

If a customer misses their confirmed pickup date, they must contact Baby Bird Blooms within 48 hours of the missed pickup date to request shipping. Shipping must be paid via e-transfer before the order will be dispatched.

Orders converted from pickup to shipping due to missed pickup are shipped at the customer’s request and risk. Transit-related concerns will not be eligible for review.

If no contact is received within 48 hours, the order will be considered unclaimed and is not eligible for refund, replacement, or store credit.
